Keeping your bub healthy and strong.

Since we had to take our little baby girl to the emergency with the high fever without any other symptoms that lasted for three days I made a decision to research every way possible to strengthen her immune system with natural solutions. It really does work. Here are some ideas for you and your family I would love to share and hope to help you to be stronger this flu season.
I can't not mention a very important factor - a prayer - every time before the meal and when anyone of us get unwell. Let's face it even natural solutions can not really compete with the Creator of the Earth.

1. We regularly use fermented cod liver oil after she turned 3 months old. You can read about numerous benefits of this supplement here. I take it myself to strengthen my immune system and make sure my milk has adequate nutrition for baby. I used to rub FCLO on our girls bottom every night. Sometimes I just squeeze content of capsule into her mouth before a feed.

2. Every day, when she is not well, I mix some probiotic into the water or into the bone broth for little one. It is to strengthen her immune system and to keep her gut flora healthy and strong. Now, there are a few ways to get probiotics. Instead of buying powder from chemist you can make fermented foods at home. Here is a fantastic source on that: http://www.realfooduniversity.com/probiotic-food/

3. Bone broth. It has incredible amounts of benefits, the most important I think is calcium.

Homemade broth is loaded with nutrients that its packaged cousins is not – minerals, gelatin, and glycosaminoglycans (which include substances like chondroitin and glucosamine, keratin and hyaluronic acid and more.) These nutrients known to benefit teeth, bones, hair, nails, and joints.
Bone broth is also a digestive elixir that helps to heal the gut lining for those who suffer from digestive problems, food allergies, and nervous system conditions including anxiety and depression. There are even numerous claims I’ve read that regular consumption of bone broth will make cellulite disappear.
I give it to our baby girl every day for healthy gut and cook everything in it. I make it every week and add onions, carrots, herbs, garlic, turmeric, coconut oil, etc.

4. Magnesium oil. It has to be pure magnesium oil to apply on a baby. I mix it with water or massage oil and apply on her chest. I do it when she has a bit of a cough or cold symptoms - rub it on her throat, feet or back.

5. Floradix is a delicious herbal drink that contains iron and a wide range of vitamins.

6. Coconut oil. If you are not familiar with benefits of coconut oil, please have a look here:

7. Another amazing remedy that was so helpful during the flu season - is lemon socks for fevers. I used this method when little one had a rasp in her voice, worked like magic.

8. Once in a while after bath I apply evening primrose oil on baby's skin. It also supports strong immune system. We do not use soup for bath, instead we add organic apple cider vinegar and sea salt in her bath tub.

9. Did you know that oregano herb is a natural antibiotic? There is a natural cough remedy for babies with with oregano: Oreganol.  I keep oregano herb in kitchen cabinet to make cough drink and give it to my baby when she has a cough with syringe. Works so well.

10. And of course the diet is a very important aspect if the strong health. We try to eliminate sugar, processed food or packaged food.

11. When my bub runs temperature or just generally does not look well, I pin a piece of garlic to her clothes to help her to fight microbes.

12. Another fever solution is to squeeze juice out of frozen cranberries and mix it with water. This helps to fight UTI. Worked for my baby girl within an hour, temp was gone.

13. The chiro sessions are also a great way to support the immune system. Here is our story that goes with it: http://www.montessorinaturessmile.com/2012/09/chiropractor-for-baby-why.html

An amazing book, a must read: Nourished baby by Heather Dessinger and an article of how to fight fevers naturally.

  1. Hi!!! We do all this too! :) We're new to the whole meat eating thing as I've always been vegan or vegetarian. LOVE bone broth though. I just bought an electric pressure cooker as with a family of 5 I was running out of space for crockpots. In less than one day we'd empty the big ol' crockpot of broth. Now..I have broth in no time. :) We also use and take coconut oil (I use it for conditioner, lotion, face cleansing, healing, ...everything.) We take RACV on a regular basis, drink kombucha, make our own kombucha, drink raw milk, take FCLO... oh..and we do Montessori homeschooling too. :)

    Nice to meet you!

  2. Wow!!!! It's awesome!!! Really nice to meet you:))) its priceless to meet likeminded people!! Do you have your blog? I just started making kefir out of coconut milk which I make too. My dream is to start making all these skin care products. It must be so hard to get to eating meats! For me it was hard to start eating eggs everyday, but I'm glad I can start afresh with my daughter and give her good stuff from the start!! Thanks again for stopping by!
