First Birthday Party Ideas

It is an incredible feeling to reach this milestone of child's life - the first birthday. I wanted to make it very special for us. First of all, since she is only turning one, we decided to celebrate it in a quiet family circle and close friends - with the ones who were always here for us and who have shown so much care and support through out this first year.
Theme for our girl's first party was card game UNO. Once the theme was decided, it made it easy to pick the colours for the set up.

We always tend to pick places for celebrations in green gorgeous surroundings. This time we found  beautiful botanic garden at the mountain community not very far from us. It is the most magic, calm, beautiful place. The photos turn out amazing there.

Talking about photos. As we picked UNO theme we got party set from local discounted store with blue, red, white colours. Balloons tied to the basket work always so good for photos with kids.

Food. Well it was easy: kebab stick with deli marinated veg, olives, dried tomatoes and cheese; fruit kebabs, deeps; crackers, and baguettes with fillings like ham, cheese, tuna and veg.

For desert I made a cake that turned out soooo delicious, light and moist. Here is the recipe (obviously you can replace coffee with milk):

40
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup brewed coffee
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • FAVOURITE ICING:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 block cream cheese
  • Directions
  • Sift together dry ingredients in a bowl. Add oil, coffee and milk; mix at medium speed for 1 minute. Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 more minutes. (Batter will be thin.)
  • Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans (or two 8-in. round baking pans and six muffin cups).
  • Bake at 325° for 25-30 minutes. Cool cakes for 10 minutes before removing from pans. Cool on wire racks.
  • Meanwhile, for icing, combine the ingredients mix at medium speed. Refrigerate for 10 min. Frost cooled cake. Yield: 12 servings.

And here is my version of "cake" for childcare to celebrate our girls birthday with friends at childcare.

Games:
Since our party theme was UNO, the obvious choice of entertainment was a game of UNO. I came up with our own rules: when someone puts down 7 everyone had to blow a kiss to the birthday girl; 9 - everyone had to put hand on the pile of cards, etc. You can get creative and make up your own rules.
Being in the garden with a lot of trees and bushes hide-and-seek game was a winner.
I bought a couple UNO games and with one I made a raffle - gave a card to each person and drew out the prices later.
Photo competition game: we divided on teams and every team had to come up with an idea for a photo with our birthday girl.

We were incredibly blessed to have an amazing time with our guests and beautiful girl. It turned out to be a very memorable day. I thank God for every second of it as the family is what matters the most.

  4. Well, I think that you are good planner and you must have conducted the birthday parties of your children much proficiently, even if you say that you lack baby party ideas.
